Default Just a Warning to People who enjoy books

Fun title I know.

Anyways, I am a pretty big fan of the Harry Potter series. After mocking a friend of mine for years for reading them I took up his challenge and read them and must say I enjoy them. Those who like the books will know the newest and final book came out this past weekend. For me there was one huge part of the story I was looking forward to reading in the book: What up with Snape.

Well thanks to a jerk in the Bone Palace just a few minutes ago I now know what happens, and even more things that happen in the story. He came in posting messages. I sometimes drift my eyes down to the chat to read what people say. I read the first sentence he typed before it dawned on me that he was not talking GW but instead named off events/characters from the books, and as I started to read the first half of his second message I realized I had just been given pretty much the entire "big unknown" of the book and really the whole series.

So I thought it may be worth it to say that if you are not wanting to have a pretty huge spoiler given away you may want to not play GW, play with local chat off, or dont go to outposts with any people in it.

Heh. Its just not Guild Wars buddy. Many people waiting patiently to read the book have been spoiled. People in the waiting lines for the books. Even on youtube. There seems to be a "leeroy jenkins remix" which actually spoils all of the book. Thanks for the heads up, though.

I will point out it's not people who enjoy books per se; it's this particular series of books, and it happens because some fans take spoilers a wee bit too seriously (thus making it far more fun to mess with them).

My suggestion is to turn off local chat, though.

Gah I saw that leeroy jenkins remix, saw the list popup of the deaths and closed it as FAST as I could...I picked up 2 names >_<

I crusied through the last book in two days, specifically to avoid having it spoiled by a bunch of irritating prats. Kept the GW play to a low profile, and left the car radio alone when I went out. Still had to turn it off on occasion to avoid spoilers. And as it turns out, the caution worked. Finished the book last night (with nothing spoiled) and I'm glad that I was able to do so.

Let me just say that fans of the series will be on the edges of their seats throughout, but Rowling did an exquisite job ratcheting the tension and suspense to high levels. I am content.

Yeah, I got a lot spoiled when someone posted who dies in the other thread last week. Seems like there are a lot of SOB know-it-alls who like to ruin other people's fun. Frankly I blame Scholastic for not having better security and those stores which sold copies early.

But it is kind of like that Snape Kills Dumbeldore GW guild when the last book came out: griefers of a different sort I call them.

As for the book, I'm neither happy nor unhappy with it but I really don't want to see another one.

Yeah, but it's fun for us to ruin your fun.
